Press Release - March 14, 2025

East Palo Alto Police Star

On Friday March 14, 2025, at 3:41 PM, the East Palo Alto Police Department received a 9-1-1 call on the 2700 block of Xavier Street.  While Officers were conducting their preliminary investigation, they were informed an adult male involved with the call had a firearm on him.  When the Officers went to confront the male, he fled on foot.  While fleeing, the male turned around and briefly pointed a handgun at the Officers, before continuing his flight.  No firearms were discharged at this point.

The male continued his flight into an open field behind Tulane Avenue where they lost sight of him.  Shortly after losing sight of the male, Officers heard a single gunshot.  Officers from the Menlo Park Police Department responded to assist with establishing a perimeter.  Menlo Park Fire Protection was requested to respond with their drones to help locate the male.

A drone operator located the male hidden behind a large bush.  When Officers arrived at the male, they found him with a gun in his hand and suffering from a single gunshot wound.  Officers began life saving measures with personnel from Menlo Park Fire, but the male was pronounced deceased on scene.

The San Mateo County Coroners Office responded and took custody of the deceased.
