Measure V - Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)

The City of East Palo Alto will vote on a measure amending Chapter 3.68 of the East Palo Alto Municipal Code, to increase the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) rate from 12% to 14% by 2023. The measure enacts a 2% increase in the TOT paid by out-of-town visitors staying in East Palo Alto hotels and short-term rentals. The tax will be phased in over a two-year period, with a 1% increase in 2022 and another 1% increase in 2023. The tax is paid by hotel and short-term rental customers.
