Street Sweeping Schedule
Street sweeping helps keep our City streets clean, reduces the potential for flooding during the rainy season by keeping storm grates clear, and helps prevent runoff and debris from polluting our waterways. Streets that are litter-free also reflect higher community pride while enhancing the quality of life for our residents and businesses.

Sweeping our streets also helps the City meet regulatory requirements of the federal Clean Water Act National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, also known as the Municipal Regional Permit (MRP R2-2015-0049), which requires, among other things, elimination of trash from entering local waterways.

Program Overview
As of January 2017, Clean Street is the city’s current contractor for street sweeping on all public streets. This contractor sweeps City streets according to this schedule and this map

Street Sweeping Enforcement Program
While all drivers should move their vehicles off the roadways during the designated street sweeping times, the Street Sweeping Enforcement Program applies only to streets that have current signs indicating parking restrictions.

The City’s Community Service Aides (CSAs) and police officers issue parking enforcement citations for any vehicle that is parked in an illegal manner, including those who do not move their vehicles during street sweeping days on streets that have parking restriction signage.

Community Help
The community plays a vital role in helping keep the City of East Palo Alto clean.
