  1. Household Hazardous Waste Event - 5/13/17

    May 13, 8:00 AM - 12:15 PM

    San Mateo County's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program, in cooperation with the City of East Palo Alto, will host three HHW Collection Events in the City of East Palo Alto in 2017. Acceptable items include; acids/bases, aerosol cans, automotive supplies (car batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, break fluids), cleaning products fertilizers, pesticides, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), paints, inks, and photo chemicals. Radioactive, explosive, medical and commercial waste is prohibited. To participate, you must schedule an appointment at San Mateo County’s HHW Program: www.smchealth.org/hhw or by calling (650) 363-4718, select option 3. The event location will be disclosed once your appointment has been confirmed. Limit 10 gallons or 50 pounds.

  2. Reading Bonanza in the Park

    May 13, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Bell Street Park

    Please join us in sharing the joy and fun of reading with youth (all ages) and families at the Seventh Annual Reading Bonanza in the Park, East Palo Alto, literacy expo. Leaders are readers. Bring the kids for free food, LOTS of free books, activities hosted by 40+ community organizations/volunteers, games, entertainment and many giveaways for youth participating in the event! A special giveaway this year will be an iPad for a parent/guardian that participates in a "Read Aloud tent" where the adults will be given practical tips and best practices in reading/sharing with youth (at all language and reading levels). Everything will be FREE! The purpose of the event is to showcase the diversity of books and promote the joy of reading. Families will be exposed to community resources, programs and various aspects of reading for entertainment, education and empowerment… all while having fun and getting free stuff!!
